Every year Pittsburgh houses the annual Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art, an exhibit of emerging global artists. The 2013 show, alone, brought artists from 19 different countries. Many Pittsburgh events revolve around its three rivers, such as The Three Rivers Regatta, Kayak Pittsburgh, and the Riverfront Trail. The Post Gazette reports that Pittsburgh is the fifth most affordable city in the U.S. According to Census research, homeowners from Pittsburgh spend a much lower portion of their income on their homes than in other metropolitan areas of the country. When comparing the close gap between the average home price and median income across the country to homeowners in Pittsburgh, it’s no wonder why 69.8 percent of Pittsburgh residents own their homes, according to the most recent Census Bureau data.
Pittsburgh is made up of a variety of neighborhoods, each with unique aspects to offer. Many residents love how each neighborhood feels like a small town within itself. Living within walking distance to cafes, restaurants, parks, and storefront shops makes Pittsburgh a desirable place to raise a family.
